Just a little background info about why we chose Hawaii…
My hubby + I were married last June + knew we wanted to:
- Travel somewhere we had never been before.
- We wanted it to be carefree + spontaneous during our travels.
- We knew we were going to wait until the winter months, due to farming reasons.
- We wanted to have the times of our lives and travel to a place that we would NEVER forget.
So… We chose HAWAII! I’m sure you are asking why we chose Maui + Oahu of all the Hawaiian Islands. The answer is, we knew we wanted an Island that wasn’t filled with tourists + that had plenty of the natural habitat. And so we chose MAUI! As for Oahu, we had both always wanted to visit Pearl Harbor, therefore added OAHU to our trip!
We spent 10 AMAZING, adventure-filled days in Hawaii and absolutely fell in love with the Islands! We made countless memories, shared countless laughs, drank one too many Maui Brewing Company Beers, soaked up some rays, ate fresh seafood, met new people + simply enjoyed EVERY waking second with each other.
And so… I wanted to share our absolute FAVORITE places/memories from our honeymoon with you all! Know that there are COUNTLESS other places to visit while in Hawaii, these are only a few.
Life is too short, so lets take the time we have and travel the world! (I’m working on convincing my hubby of that at the moment)…
MAUI
Turtle Bay
Kahekili Highway
Breathtaking views of the Maui coastline, but don’t let me fool you, it wasn’t easy getting there… We had to drive down a one-way road (one side being a mountain + the other a cliff that dropped off into infinity)!
Waiehu Golf Course
Golfing on this course would make me want to golf every day, my husband would like that WAY TOO MUCH!
Hookipa Beach
We loved seeing the turtles every day + there was quite a view:)
Hana Highway
I now understand why people describe this highway as a “Spiritual Awakening.” There were countless breathtaking views of the coastline, vegetation, animals, + the natural Maui.
Keanae Point
The Pools of Oheo (7 Sacred Pools)
These pools were a sight to see. It really opens your eyes to truly natural beauty.
Twin Falls
Beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails!
Baldwin Beach
We spent our morning here the day of my Birthday!
Mama’s Fish House
By far THE BEST meal we had on the Island! I had the Mahi Mahi stuffed with crab + lobster! All of the fish and shrimp were caught fresh that morning.
Maui Brewing Company
Of course, we had to visit a brewery on our honeymoon! We loved the vast variety of brews they offered + loved their sustainability!
Paia Fish Market
The best fish + chips I have ever had! The fish was caught daily + I obsessed over the Mahi Mahi.
Honoapiilani Highway
Lahaina Town
The cutest little fishing town!
Ahihi-Kinau Natural Reserve
We had a blast snorkeling here!
The Summit of Haleakala (Haleakala National Park)
We watched the sunrise at the summit (10,023 ft above sea level). This was a beautiful experience, but we definitely FROZE in 30 degree weather waiting for the sunrise.
Jungle Zipline
This was my first time ziplining + it was a BLAST!
Bamboo Forest
This was our favorite hike of the trip. We loved jumping from boulder to boulder, scaling the side of a waterfall + witnessing several beautiful waterfalls.
Our AirBnb
Our little Jungle bungalow was absolutely perfect for us! We were hardly there, because we were always adventuring, but our time spent there was wonderful!
Big Beach
This is by far our favorite beach we encountered! Everything from the color of the ocean to the size of the waves was breathtaking!
OAHU
Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki
Pearl Harbor/USS Arizona
What a great experience!
